aka... "Big Daddy"
David K. Henry aka "Crazy Canuck" 'Big Daddy" has had a life long passion for anything with motors and wheels. He loved watching equipment of any kind being operated and worked his way up from lawnmowers to some of the biggest equipment in operation today.
He worked his way through High School in Ontario on a farm near Kleinburg. He credits his boss, Earl Dyball with teaching him to listen to your machine and look after it. Dollars were tight so tractors and attachments had to be preserved.
Since those days David has amassed more than 3 million kilometres (as of April 2016) on and off the road in anything from a rolling junk yard to new, top of the line, sweet rides.
He was first given the handle "Canadian" when he was living and driving in Delaware USA. That soon changed to "Crazy Canuck" due to ... well ... his calm and even temperament. You may hear some of those stories here on this website. ;-) With his many children, both his own, and others he's taken under his wing, he's called "Big Daddy". His Grandson has christened Grampa's 2013 Freightliner Cascadia "Honk Honk".
He's competed several times in the Manitoba Truck Driving Championships, coming away with five second place finishes. In 2015 David placed second once again to Ken Wiebe of EBD Transport.
Previously published articles written by David are in "Today's Trucking" archives (todaystrucking.com, or click on the links page). Today's Trucking is great for readers in and out of the trucking industry. Worth reading!
